The wetland scope

Miandoab is a flat plain the height of which decreases from south towards north and Simineh and Zarrineh Rivers, as the most important rivers flowing in this plain, flow into Lake Urmia with a gentle slope.
Nowruzlu Wetland is located approximately in the center of this plain. Nowruzlu wetland drainage basin is a mountainous and plain area. The wetland is located on the border of Barouq region, Miandoab County, which is a mountainous area, and its central part, which is a plain, and along the Zarrineh River. One of the prominent features of this plain is its mild slope.
Nowruzlu Wetland Protected Area is located in a wide valley surrounded by several mountains and Zarrineh River flows through the wetland. Due to low slope of the path and smooth area of the protected area, the wetland disperses some of the water of Zarrineh River throughout the area and forms several wetlands. In the wet seasons, a large part of the 1150-hectare area is submerged in water.
